What I've Been Up To

This past week was pretty crazy. First off, it was dead week (the week before finals) so I had lots of studying that I needed to do but had a hard time doing so because I had my first cookie order! Decorating cookies is something that I love to do, and it would be a dream to do it as a living. Doesn't that just sound like the best job ever. "What do you do?" "Oh I decorate cookies" lol. I don't know about you, but that sounds like the best job ever to me. And maybe too good to be true... but we'll see. :)

The order was 80, cute but simple, snowflakes. The design was new to me, but I loved making them! I love learning new designs and I think I'll be using this design again in the future. I was worried about how much space I would be taking over in the apartment, but my four roommates were really understanding about it. Who doesn't love waking up to the smell of sweet cookies? 😆

The cookies were due Friday in the afternoon. I started them on Tuesday, worked all day Wednesday, and finished them on Thursday. Just in time to deliver them the next day. The drive was about three hours away so I would of delivered them Thursday, but my mom didn't like the idea of me driving three hours in the dark, which is understandable since it gets dark so early now a days.

The cookies were a hit! Everybody loved them. I got many compliments in person and online. I do have another order due soon and I can't wait to show you what designs I'll be doing. Stay tuned!

Just a little reminder for myself and maybe for you: "Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people." (Colossians 3:23) 💛

Christmas Apartment Decor

I decided to do an apartment decor post because of the many sweet compliments I was getting. :) Thank you for those by the way!

When I decorate my "home away from home" place (i.e. apartment or dorm room), I like to decorate with things that aren't specifically for Christmas. If I'm going to be spending money for decorations, I want to be able to use them for more than just the month of December. And I won't even be at my apartment for most of it because I'll be going home for winter break. That's why I decorate the place more for just winter in general. Snowman, snowflakes, trees with a little snow frost (not ornaments), etc. I want it to be worth the money I spend, so I would like to be able to use them for at least two months. Now at home, where I'll actually be spending Christmas, I go ALL out.

Anyways, now onto the pictures! First I'll show you a picture of what it looked like originally just so you can see what I added or changed.

Mother's Apple Pie

Apple pie is a must have for thanksgiving dinner, which is why I would like to share my favorite apple pie recipe! I have tried several recipes and not one can come close to my mother's! Not quite sure where the original recipe came from, but my aunt contributed to the original, who then gave it to my mother, and then she contributed to the recipe, thus resulting the most delicious apple pie to exist! I'm not kidding when I say it's the best!
Don't be intimated by the amount of steps!  I also made a video for this recipe to help you out. :) This recipe makes two pies and any type of apple can be used, but tastes best when using red-yellowish apples. Hope you guys give a try and let me know what you think! Oh and I hope you're thanksgiving is wonderful and delicious. May your hearts be filled with gratitude! :)
